K-9 Cop Finds Drugs in Shelton Man's Car: Underage Driver Not Charged

Police charged a Shelton man with alcohol and drug possession after a report of erratic driving on Route 111 Friday night.

According to the police report, officers were alerted to a gray Chevy pick-up truck driving erratically in the vicinity of East Village Road on Route 111 at approximately 10 p.m.

Police were able to locate a truck matching the description shortly after the report and observed the driver before pulling the truck over on Route 111.   

During the investigation police discovered the driver, a 16 year-old girl, did not have a driver's license.

Police said the driver explained to officers that the passenger, Daniel Pabian, 20 of Shelton, who owned the truck, had been drinking.  

During a field sobriety test, officers observed that Pabian's breath smelled like an alcoholic beverage and that he appeared to be intoxicated.

The department's canine unit was called to the scene to conduct a smell test of the vehicle, which tipped off police to marijuana inside the truck.

Police said they also found drug paraphernalia in Pabian's pockets during the investigation.

Pabian was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was processed at headquarters and released on $500 bond for an Aug. 3 court date.

The girl was not charged in the incident.

Foreman Snagged for Hiring 15 Year-old

Police charged a foreman at the work site of the future Union Saving Bank on Route 111 Friday with employing a 15 year-old worker following a complaint to the state Department of Labor.

Antonio DeMora, 29, owner of A&A Brothers, Inc., a building contractor from Shelton, was charged with risk of injury to a minor and employing a minor in a hazardous occupation after labor department investigators visited the work site.

According to the report, Monroe police were notified by the Department of Labor and apprehended DeMora without incident at the job site shortly before 10 a.m. Friday.  

DeMora was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 30.

Unpaid Dog Ticket Lands Shelton Man in Jail

A Shelton man who did not to pay or plea to an outstanding dog ticket turned himself into Monroe Police on an outstanding arrest warrant Friday.

William Cleary, 48, of Shelton turned himself over to police at approximately 1:15 Friday afternoon and was released on $100 bond.

The report does not indicate how Cleary was notified. He is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 30.
