Police Reports: DUI, Bad Checks and a Deer

Officers made a drunken driving arrest; a Trumbull man turned himself in on a warrant and a deer ran into the side of a police car

DUI Arrest

Police arrested a Newtown man for drunken driving Thursday after officers observed him driving erratically on Route 25, near Brook Street, at 12:38 a.m.

Kyle Vignone, 18, of Briarwood Lane was charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain the proper lane. He was released on $5oo bond for a March 28 court date.

When officers stopped his vehicle, police said Vignone appeared to be confused and disoriented, spoke with a slow and slurred speech, and had bloodshot eyes. Field sobriety tests and breath tests determined he was under the influence, according to the report.

Bad Checks

A 47-year-old Trumbull man turned himself in on a warrant Thursday morning for allegedly issuing $1,500 and $687 checks with insufficient funds to Treehouse Comedy Productions for a show at his restaurant in October.

Michael Masanotti of Rocky Hill owns Rivers Edge Bar & Grill in Derby. Police said officers had contacted him following a complaint and that he promised to pay the victim in full. However, he still has not, so a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.

Masanotti was charged with issuing a bad check and bond was set at $1,500 for a March 25 court date.

A Stolen Karaoke Machine

A Webb Circle resident reported a $200 karaoke machine stolen from an unlocked shed in the backyard Thursday.

Police said the theft took place while the victim's family was on vacation.

Deer Hits Police Car

A deer jumped out onto Route 111, near Old Coach Road, at 4:51 Friday morning and damaged the side of a police cruiser.

The deer died from its injuries and the car had front fender damage, police said.
