DUI on 25

Police arrested a Bridgeport man for drunken driving at 2:02 Sunday morning, after officers driving behind him saw his '95 Nissan Pathfinder swerving while heading south on Main Street and cross over the double yellow line — with half of his vehicle going into the northbound lane, according to the report.

The driver, Jose Ortega, 29, of North Avenue told officers he had left a bar in Danbury, police said. Ortega's eyes were bloodshot, his speech was slurred, there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and he had no driver's license on him, according to police.

Field sobriety and breath tests determined Ortega was under the influence, police said. He was charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane. Ortega was released on $500 bond for a April 19 court date.

Police said the traffic stop was in the 200 block of Main Street.

Stolen Identity

A 63-year-old Ryegate Terrace woman received a phone call from Discover telling her that someone tried to open an account using her name and Social Security number, but a different address, according to a fraud complaint made to police on Thursday.

Police are investigating the incident.

Stolen laptop

A woman living in a neighborhood near Elm Street told police Thursday that someone stole her $560 laptop computer.

Police said several Realtors brought people through the resident's home on April 6 during an open house. The last time the victim saw her computer was on April 5, according to the report.

Police are investigating the theft.

Lawn Vandalism

An Elm Street man told police Saturday morning that someone had made tire tracks across his lawn, about 74 feet from the driveway to his front door. Roughly 22-feet of the damage was grass dug up along the driveway from spinning tires, police said.

No one heard or saw anything and there are no suspects nor any estimate of the cost of the damage, police said.
