Police Reports: Dumpster Diving, Vandalism at the Park

A burglary report turned out to be a trespassing incident on Main Street, vandalism was reported at Great Hollow Lake, and a welder generator was found on Timothy Hill Road.

Dumpster Diving

A neighboring property owner reported a burglary in progress at the Valvoline Instant Oil Change building next door at 10:59 Sunday night. Officers arriving on the scene found a man rifling through the Dumpster and his gray Ford pickup truck was parked in the rear of the 163 Main Street business, according to the report.

The 32-year-old man told officers he was looking for scrap metal, police said, adding he was told he was trespassing and should not be looking in Dumpsters without the permission of the owners.

Police said the incident took place sometime between Friday, when area had been plowed, and the date of the report.

Found Property

Police are hoping that the owner of a welder generator found on Timothy Hill Road at 9:56 Monday morning will either come into police headquarters at 7 Fan Hill Road or call the general number at (203) 261-3622 to claim it.

An officer on patrol found a welder generator with a gasoline engine, which appears to be in good condition, according to police. The company that manufactured it valued the welder at approximately $3,300.

Whomever claims it must be able to describe it or bring a proof of purchase.
