DUI on Old Newtown Road

A 19-year-old Stratford man was arrested for drunken driving after officers saw his gray '83 Dotson 280ZX pull into Old Zoar Road and park facing the wrong way on the one way street at 2:20 Saturday morning.

Joseph Bugarchich, 19, of Mary Avenue was charged with driving under the influence, and driving the wrong way on a one way street. He was released on $500 bond for a June 21 court date.

When an officer pulled in behind Bugarchich's car and approached the vehicle he smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Bugarchich and field sobriety and breath tests determined he was under the influence, according to police.

Police said officers checked the licenses of the passengers, two Stratford men ages 21 and 22, and both were suspended, so the car had to be towed.

Narcotics Arrest

Police officers on patrol at 12:59 p.m. Friday pulled over a white Ford Taurus heading south on Main Street with no front license plate and a rear plate that was dangling by one screw, according to the report.

Officers learned the driver, Stephanie Norling, 30, of Lovell Place in Stratford, had a suspended license, according to police. A female officer searched Norling and found a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana and eight Lorazepam pills loose in her purse, police said.

Norling was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of plates, no front plate, operating with a suspended license, failure to keep drugs in original container, possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana.

She was released on $1,000 bond for a June 21 court date.

Another Narcotics Arrest

A Bridgeport man was arrested on narcotics charges Sunday after a traffic stop on Main Street for broken tail lights.

James Franky Anestale, 24, of Woodmont Avenue was charged with operating with a suspended license, failure to have brake lights, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $1,250 bond for a June 22 court date.

After officers pulled over Anestale's '98 Nissan Ultima police found Anestale's license was under suspension and noted his 2-year-old son was sitting in a child-safety seat in the back seat of the car, according to the report. Police said the odor of marijuana was in the vehicle, materials used to make a blunt were on the floor, and that a green leafy substance was also in the car.
