Bank prevents fraud

A Monroe woman told police Tuesday that someone had tried to access her People's United Bank account online.

On Monday morning, someone tried to access her account eight times in a matter of two minutes without success. The bank locked the account as part of a security feature, and notified its customer of the attempted breach.

Monroe is conducting a computer forensics investigation.

Capt. Michael Flick said people should call the police department when incidents like this happen to them.

"Always protect your personal and banking information," he said.
