Mistaken identity makes the IRS come looking for a Wheeler Road man and a nail salon's credit card is compromised

A 38-year-old Wheeler Road man told police March 2 that a $2,957.50 payment to him and an Oxford contractor was listed on his IRS 1099 Miscellaneous Income Claim form, according to the report.
He told police he never heard of nor came into contact with the Oxford business.

"We contacted the company and it appears it may be a case of a similar name and different address," said Lt. Brian McCauley. "This is now documented with the IRS."

Oasis Nail & Spa, 525 Main St., told police Tuesday that 11 unauthorized charges on its business credit card for $498.21 had been made to various online businesses.
The nail salon has been reimbursed by the bank and will cancel its account. Police are investigating this incident.
