The supermarket's loss prevention department saw the theft on video surveillance footage and reported it to police on Thursday.

Police said the suspects drove off in a black SUV with Florida plates.

Drug dealers and users often mix baby formula with their drugs, according to police.

Evading, Narcotics ...

A Sherman man drove off in his 2007 Acura after being rear-ended on Monroe Turnpike at around 6 p.m. Thursday, but the driver of the 2002 Nissan Sentra that hit him — a 21-year-old Monroe woman — followed his car and called police on her cell phone, according to the report.

When police stopped the Acura near the intersection of Bayberry Meadow Road the officer asked the driver, Taylor P. McCourt, 23, why he did not stop after the accident. He said the person who hit him was a young girl and he didn't want to deal with it, according to police.

But an investigation found McCourt's license was under suspension and police said he admitted to having marijuana and a pipe in the center console. Officers found the multi-colored glass pipe and a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for pot, police said.

McCourt was charged with operating a vehicle under suspension, evading responsibility and possession of less-than-a-half-ounce of marijuana. He was released on $500 bond for an Aug. 29 court date.
