Police Reports: Graffiti and Fraud

Graffiti was scrawled on the back of the Village Square shopping center building and two residents were victims of identity theft.

A black marker was used to scrawl offensive phrases and to make an offensive anatomical drawing behind New England Kitchen in Village Square, according to a complaint filed by the owner Monday.

Police said it occured sometime overnight, adding the back of the building will be repainted.

Nearly $2k Worth of Fraud

Someone fraudulently opened a Macy's credit card account in a Great Oak Farm woman's name in late September and charged around $1,800 on it. Police said the victim became aware of it after getting the statement in the mail.

Police said they contacted Macy's Fraud Division and found that the account had been opened at a store in Rockaway, New Jersey, and that the purchases were made on the same day.

The identity theft victim was advised to check with credit agencies to see if other fraudulent activity occured in her name. It had not, according to the report.

Hundreds Spent at IKEA

A Gay Bower Road woman told police Monday that someone had fraudulently used her debit card for $800 worth of purchases at an IKEA store in Atlanta, Ga. Police said the card was in her possession the whole time.

She does not know how the identity thief got her account number, according to the report. Police said the victim was given an identity theft packet.
