Police Reports: Hot Tickets, Burglary and Propane

Disney tickets were bought with a stolen credit card, a Guinea Road house was burglarized and propane tanks were stolen from a fire scene

Deal had a big catch

A Monroe man thought he had a good deal on four two-day Hopper tickets to Disney World, giving his family unlimited admission to Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

He had bought the tickets for $846 on eBay using his Paypal account.

But when he took his family to Disney World in November they were surrounded by security and told someone had bought a lot of tickets, including theirs, with a stolen credit card and was selling them, according to the police complaint filed Monday.

A 19-inch flatscreen TV and approximately $2,800 in cash was reported stolen during a burglary on Guinea Road Monday.

The resident left his house at 9:30 a.m. and returned at 1:30 p.m. and found his things had been rummaged though and that the rear door had been forced in to gain entry.

Police said the money was taken from a drawer inside a bedroom closet.

The burglary is under investigation.

Propane tanks stolen from fire scene

When firefighters battled the morning blaze at the 193 Main Street building housing Skate Time, Arms and Munitions and Fairfield County Shooting Range on Nov. 3, they moved four propane tanks to the southwest corner of the property so they wouldn't explode.

On Nov. 19, the tanks were reported stolen. Police said the gun store owner called a gas company to pick up two that it owned only to learn all four were missing.

Two 100-gallon tanks owned by Rural Gas in Trumbull were valued at $400 each and two 120-gallon tanks owned by Pioneer Gas were $300 each, according to police.

Police said Pioneer had just filled its tanks before the fire.
