A Pepper Street man's four tires were for sale and someone took them — for free. Bogus charges were made on a Lanthorne Drive woman's credit card

A 64-year-old Pepper Street man told police at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday that someone stole the four tires he was trying to sell for $400.
The tires on display were chained to his mailbox post, so drivers could see the merchandise as they drove by, police said, adding someone decided to take it all without paying.

Charges in Ohio
An identity thief used a 47-year-old Lanthorne Drive woman's credit card to make two purchases in Ohio, before Bank of America became suspicious over an attempt to use it a third time, according to a fraud complaint the victim filed at police headquarters Wednesday.

Police said fraudulent charges of $532.48 and $266.24 were made in Ohio, before a third attempt for $230 failed. The bank reimbursed the lost money and will issue the victim a new card.
