Police Reports: Which Grandson? Which One Do You Think?

An Elm Street woman filed a telephone fraud complaint and a child safety fence was reported stolen on Glenbrook Drive.

Phone Scam

An elderly Elm Street woman told police that a man, who sounded like he was in his 20's, called her identifying himself as her grandson. He said he was drunk, had been driving and got into a car accident in New York City, according to the Wednesday report. Police said he wanted his grandmother to send money to get him out of jail.

When the woman asked which grandson he was, the caller said, "Which one do you think?"

When she replied, "Jeff," police said he immediately agreed.

But the woman did not recognize the voice, told the caller she did not believe him and hung up the phone, according to police.

Stolen Safety Fence

A 25-foot orange, mesh fence at the end of a driveway on Glenbrook Drive, used to keep cars out and children on their bicycles in, was reported stolen Wednesday.

Police said the homeowner first noticed the fence was missing on Aug. 11 and filed the complaint on Wednesday.
