The following arrest information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Narcotics Arrest

Officers pulled over a tan Plymouth Breeze at 12:37 Wednesday morning after seeing it turn left onto Monroe Turnpike from Route 110 and weave within its lane, crossing over the fog line, according to the report.

The driver, Ty Tomasko, 24, of Vista Drive in Shelton, was charged with DUI, failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to keep drugs in the original container, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $5,000 for a June 24 court date.

When an officer approached the vehicle he observed a ceramic object on Tomasko's lap that turned out to be a marijuana pipe, police said, adding residue on the pipe prompted a search of the vehicle.

A yellow backpack in the front seat contained five packets of white powder that field tested positive for heroin, six hypodermic needles, a bag of a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana, several pills and a grinder police say Tomasko admitted to using to grind pills.

There were seven kinds of pills, including alprazolam, oxycontin and Cialis, according to police.

Police said Tomasko appeared unsteady and that his pupils were dilated and field tests determined he was under the influence. He was arrested for DUI and later submitted to a urine test, according to the report.

Stored then Stolen

A $529 steel backpack blower and a $397 steel 20-inch chainsaw were reported stolen Tuesday from a rented unit at U Store It, 873 Main Street.

Police said a 59-year-old Redding man rented a unit there on June 11 and that someone had removed the lock to gain access to his things. Police are investigating.

A Heist from Ace

Ace Hardware store, 246 Main Street, reported the theft of 15 wheel barrows, four chairs and 11 bags of pea gravel from the front of its store Monday. Police said a padlock was cut and the cable securing the items was removed.

The wheel barrows are valued at $269.97 each, the chairs $54.99 and bags of pea gravel at $76 each, police said.

Violation of Probation

A Windgate Circle woman was arrested on a warrant for violation of probation on at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Deborah Sylvester, 50, had been charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace for a domestic incident on Nov. 9 in which she allegedly threw a hot pot of water at her husband, grabbed him by the throat, then rammed his jeep several times — with him in it — with her Lexus in their driveway knocking it into the garage and house as their 13-year-old daughter sat at her side.

She was arrested at her home Tuesday without incident and released on $50,000 bond for a June 15 court date, police said.

Fruit from Big Y

A Lanthorne Road woman shopping at Big Y, 535 Monroe Turnpike, Tuesday afternoon allegedly bought some items at checkout without paying for others. The store's loss prevention officer stopped her for stealing apricots, nectarines, cherries and a water melon, according to police.

Chris Pertesis, 47, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court on June 22.

Police said the fruit totalled $32.97. A loss prevention officer saw Pertesis not pay for some items, took her receipt and confronted her after she had walked passed all points of purchase, according to the report.
