Police Reports: Man, 72, Allegedly Assaults Girlfriend Outside D&D

A Trumbull man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly attacking his girlfriend inside his vehicle.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

A 56-year-old Newtown woman called police at around 11:31 Tuesday morning and told them she had been arguing with her boyfriend inside his vehicle in the parking lot at 135 Main Street when he became violent, slapping and choking her and pulling her hair to prevent her from leaving, according to the police report.

The suspect, Don Victor Kwet, 72, of Hedgehog Circle in Trumbull was gone when officers arrived on the scene, but police said Trumbull officers stopped his vehicle on Route 111 in Trumbull and held him until Monroe officers took him into custody.

Kwet was charged with breach of peace, third-degree assault and unlawful restraint. He was held on $10,000 bond and taken to court on Wednesday.
