Police Reports: Narcotics and a DUI

Officers arrested a man for drunken driving and a woman for pot this past weekend

Tinted Windows Leads to Drug Arrest

A Trumbull woman was arrested for possession of marijuana Friday evening, after police stopped her vehicle on Main Street for tinted windows that were too dark, according to the report.

After the traffic stop, police said Margaret Leska, 18, seemed nervous and evasive when answering the officer's questions. Liberty, the police dog, sniffed around the car and indicated there were drugs inside, police said, adding a small amount of pot was found during a search of the vehicle.

Leska of Randall Drive was charged with possession of less-than-four ounces of marijuana and issued a verbal warning for failing to have a Department of Motor Vehicles sticker verifying that the tinted windows passed inspections.

She was released on $250 bond for an April 8 court date.

DUI Arrest

A Trumbull man was arrested for driving under the influence Sunday, after an officer saw his vehicle blow through a stop sign at the intersection of Wheeler and Old Tannery roads at 2 a.m., according to the report.

Field sobriety tests determined that the driver, Richard Giardini, 31, of Bonita Avenue was under the influence, police said.

He was charged with DUI and failure to obey a stop sign. Bond was set at $500 for an April 12 court date.
