Police Reports: Not a Banker, Car Was Stripped

A man told a couple Chase Bank was looking for them, and a stolen car was recovered.

A Far Horizon resident told police she was doing yard work with her husband on Sunday when a black Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up.

The driver handed them an envelop marked "confidential" and told them Chase bank was looking for them.

The woman became suspicious and called the bank.

A manager told her Chase would not do business that way, and not on a Sunday, according to the report. The resident contacted police on Tuesday.

Police Lt. Brian McCauley said the woman did the right thing.

"If there's questions about anything," he said, "before you give out personal information — your social security number, your credit card, your bank account number — contact the ageny or the company."

Police are investigating a possible fraud.

Stolen Honda found

A gray 1997 Honda Civic reported stolen from a driveway on Cutlers Farm Road Saturday, was recovered in Bridgeport on Monday.

The Honda was found at the corner of Union Street and Mildner Drive at 10:30 p.m. Police said the car was stripped and abandoned.

On Saturday, the owner of the car had told police he left windows open and the keys in the ignition before it was stolen sometime overnight.
