Police Reports: Over $21,000 in False Store Returns

An investigation led to the arrest of a cashier at Benedict's Home & Garden for allegedly stealing $21,106 from his employer, and a branch took down wires on Old Newtown Road.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

'False Returns'

A cashier allegedly stole $21,106 from Benedict's Home & Garden, 480 Purdy Hill Road, from a period of Jan. 8,2010 to June 8,2011 and tried to cover his tracks by falsely recording the money as store returns, according to police, who investigated the case.

Andrew Traggianese, 22, of Jesse Lee Drive in Easton turned himself in on a warrant Monday and was charged with first-degree larceny. He was released on $5,000 bond for an Aug. 3 court date.

A tree branch came crashing down in the 100 block of Old Newtown Road Monday night, taking wires with it, police said.

The complaint came in at 9:16 p.m. and the power company was called in to repair the damaged wires.
