Police Reports: Pricey Coffee, Trashy Photos ...

Today's blotter includes a DUI arrest at a Dunkin Donuts drive-thru, a neighborhood dispute, a burglary attempt and a warrant arrest.

A burglary attempt

A Huntington Road woman was talking on the phone at 11:50 p.m. Monday, when her dog started barking incessantly. Then she heard a squeaking noise downstairs.

Police said she noticed that the dining room window was partially open and dialed 911.

Officers found that the screen on the window had been cut, nothing was missing and that no entry was gained, according to the report.

"He probably thought nobody was home," Sgt. Keith White said of the burglar Wednesday. "A Dumpster was in front of the house, so he probably thought people were moving out."

White said the homeowner handled the situation perfectly.

"If strange things happen, especially in the middle of the night, you should always call 911," he said.

A DUI at Dunkin Donuts

A Trumbull man was arrested for drunken driving at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday, after a Dunkin Donuts employee complained about a belligerent customer in the drive-thru of the 135 Main Street store.

Police Lt. Brian McCauley said employees kept the driver talking until police officers arrived.

When they did, McCauley said the man appeared to be half-asleep and was slumped over the steering wheel. The odor of an alcoholic beverage was on his breath, his speech was slurred, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, according to the report.

Field sobriety tests determined he was under the influence, police said.

Daniel Jones, 42, of Saxony Avenue was charged with driving under the influence and released on $500 bond for a July 20 court date.

Warrant arrest

A Fan Hill Road man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday stemming from a domestic incident complaint made on July 2.

Thomas P. Beard, 43, was charged with second-degree harassment. He was released on a promise to appear in court July 14.

Trashy photos

Police issued a verbal warning for trespassing to a woman after her Hurd Avenue neighbor saw her going through trash in her Dumpster and taking pictures, according to police.
