Police Reports: Running Red Light Leads to Narcotics Bust

Officers arrested a Monroe man for possession of heroin.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

K-9 Officer Dennis Bradshaw pulled over a driver on Judd Road for allegedly running a red light at the intersection of Purdy Hill Road and Route 25 at around 7:31 p.m. on June 2. The traffic stop led to a narcotics arrest.

The driver, Gregory Zimnoch, 31, of Little Fox Lane, appeared nervous, gave evasive answers to the officer's questions and his hands were shaking, police said. Based on that, police canine Liberty performed an air scent and alerted on the vehicle.

Police said a black nylon case with a zipper found in the side compartment on the door contained several syringes, three full folds of suspected heroin and 57 emply folds with suspected heroin residue. Liberty also alerted on the car's center console, where officers found a razor blade, Q-tips and cotton balls with suspected heroin residue, according to the report.

Zimnoch was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia and released on $5,000 bond for a June 12 court date.
