Police said the woman came to police headquarters on Monday morning to report that she gave her sister jewelry and personal documents, including passports and citizen papers, for safe keeping, and that everything was held in a safe deposit box at Webster Bank in Monroe. But when she went to retrieve her belongings about a week later, she only received half of the jewelry and none of her documents, according to the report.

Her sister claims that was all that had originally been given to her, police said, adding they are investigating the complaint.

 Possession of Pot

A defective brake light led to an infraction for possession of less-than-an-half-ounce of marijuana for a 24-year-old Newtown man Monday night.

An officer pulled over Andrew Zimmerman's 2005 Nissan Altima on Route 34 at around 10:23 p.m. and police said he appeared nervous and that his passenger, a 27-year-old Newtown man, was visibly shaking.

When asked if he had anything illegal, police said Zimmerman, who lives on Rowledge Pond Road, admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in his pocket. Police canine, Gunner, did an air scent of the car and alerted officers to the center console, but nothing else was found, according to the report.

A Vtech Laptop

A Vtech, which is a children's laptop computer, was found in the Cedar Village parking lot at 650 Main Street and turned over to police at 7:02 a.m. on Sunday. No owner has been found.

To claim the lost computer, call the Monroe Police Department at (203) 261-3622.
