Spitting mad

Two men were arrested Tuesday afternoon after getting into a fight outside an apartment on Elm Street. Officers were dispatched to an assault in progress at the address at 4:29 p.m.

John Lichvar, 40, of Frank Drive in Shelton and Daniel Marconi, 30, of West Shore Drive in Milford were both charged with breach of peace and released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 9.

Marconi's mother rents the apartment and Lichvar is the landlord. Police said Marconi has a vehicle for sale in the driveway and that he accused Lichvar of plowing it in with snow.

The men argued when Lichvar was plowing and it turned violent. Marconi claims Lichvar allegedly spit on him, pushed him to the ground and punched him several times, according to the report.

Lichvar claims he was approached by Marconi, who was upset about his vehicle being plowed in, and that Marconi allegedly spit in his face twice through the window of his truck and slapped him, according to police.

Lichvar told officers he got out of his truck to "restrain" Marconi and the fight ensued, police said.

Defensive driving

High mounds of snow at intersections are making it difficult for drivers to see when they turn into traffic. As they creep forward, on numerous ocassions, another driver will go by, beep at them and give them the finger.

Police ask drivers to be defensive rather than offensive and to be patient when people are pulling out, keeping in mind that they will also have to creep forward in areas to see before turning.
