Police Reports: Stolen Child Support Checks, Vandalism and Risk of Injury

A car wash employee is suspected of cashing child support checks from his garnished wages, a fight outside Really Good Stuff results in an arrest and a family's property is vandalized

Breach of Peace

A Bridgeport woman was arrested Monday after confronting her husband at work.

At 11:07 a.m., officers were called to a physical altercation in the parking lot of Really Good Stuff, 448 Pepper Street. They saw a woman flailing her arms and lunging at a man, who was pushing her away, according to the report.

The woman, Ivette Medina, 38, of Bishop Street, allegedly did not obey officers' orders and continued to be disruptive, leading to her arrest. The couple's two children, daughters ages 14 and three, were in the car during the dispute, police said.

Medina was charged with risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace and third-degree assault. Bond was set at $1,000 and she was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Stolen Child Support

The owner of Monroe Car Wash & Detail, 178 Main Street, reported the theft of $672 worth of checks his business was supposed to send to the Connecticut Child Support Services Processing Center as garnished wages of one of its employees.

On Saturday, he told police his business' check service sent employees' checks and the checks of garnished wages from the worker, which came in a sealed envelope to be sent to the CCSSPC. Those checks were stolen and cashed by the employee, according to police.

The car wash owner said the employee suspected in the thefts stopped showing up for work and has not returned calls, police said, adding the incident is under investigation.

Vandalism

An Old Castle Drive man told police Sunday that both of his children's cars were vandalized, along with his family's fence and mailbox.

Police said an eight-foot section of a split rail fence was pulled out of the ground, with one horizontal pole left on the lawn and another laid on top of the trunk of a car.

The left, rear quarter panel of gray '98 Honda appeared to have been keyed and the rear antenna of a blue 2000 Acura was bent in two places, police said, adding a hanging flower pot, which had originally been hanging from a tree along the driveway, had been placed on the sun roof.

The door of the mailbox was bent down on a 90-degree angle and a Masuk graduate sign was pulled out of the lawn, according to the report.

Police are investigating the incident.
