Police said the number had a 347 area code from New York. An automated voice directed the woman to press one to reduce her credit card interest rate.

When she pressed one, police said a man came on the line and told her he was with Card Member Services and could help her with any card, before asking for her credit card information.

She realized it was a scam and hung up. Police said she reported it so others could be made aware of it. The incident is under investigation.
