Police Reports: Two Small Dogs, One Shoe, One Arrest

Officers arrested a Newtown man Tuesday for allegedly trying to enter cars in a parking lot at 630 Main Street

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

The manager of Fitness 4000, 630 Main Street, called police at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to report seeing a man carrying two small dogs wandering around the parking lot and trying to enter several vehicles.

Officers found a man fitting the description standing inside Sal's Pizza, according to the report. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated, was unable to answer simple questions and was wearing only one shoe.

Based upon witnesses statements, Andrew R. Brackett, 51, of Toddy Hill Road in Newtown was charged with criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 11.

Police said Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service personnel evaluated Brackett on the scene and it was determined that he did not need to be transported to the hospital.
