This police blotter contains drunken driving, threatening, risk of injury, fraud and an unloaded handgun

Uncle allegedly threatens niece's life

A Pepper Street woman told police that her uncle started calling her cell phone and threatening her life and her family's safety because he blamed her when a relationship between him and her friend turned sour.

After an investigation determined Domingos Goncalves, 49, of Beardsley Road in Shelton made several calls from his cell phone to his niece's, he was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment and second-degree threatening and ordered to have no contact with the victim, according to the report.

DUI, risk of injury

A Waterbury man was arrested for drunken driving after police pulled him over for speeding on Main Street with a seven-year-old child in the back seat of his white, Ford SUV at 12:58 a.m. Sunday.

Sean Dauber, 39, of Greenbow Street was charged with driving under the influence, traveling at an unreasonable speed and risk of injury to a minor. He was released on $500 bond for a Dec. 21 court date and the Department of Children and Families was notified, police said.

An officer, who saw the SUV heading north at a high rate of speed, had to drive over 60 mph before he could get Dauber to pull over his vehicle, according to the report.

Police said the officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Dauber, his speech was slurred and that his eyes were bloodshot and glossy. Six empty beer bottles were on the passenger side floor and the child was sitting in the back seat, police said.

Field tests at the scene and breath tests at headquarters determined that Dauber was under the influence, police said.

Assisting Meriden

A traffic violation led to the arrest of a man wanted on a Meriden warrant at 2:16 a.m. Saturday.

An officer stopped Edwin Vega Jr.'s vehicle on Cross Hill Road after seeing him blow by a stop sign at the intersection of Moose Hill Road, police said.

A check on Vega's license found that Meriden Police had a warrant for his arrest. Monroe police held him for that department.

Handgun found near Masuk

Two hikers found an unloaded handgun on Paugussett Trail, about 70 yards behind Masuk High School, at around 2:42 p.m. Sunday.

Police notified the principal and the superindendent of schools and tracked down the owner of the Colt 38 detective special.

It turned out it belonged to a Monroe resident who lost it on the trail sometime between Dec. 8 and 14  when it fell out of his fannypack.

Facebook case

A 14-year-old girl told police Friday that a friend at Masuk High School told her someone had made a copy of her Facebook page without her knowledge.

There has been a growing problem of cyber bullying and one form is when someone makes a fake Facebook page and uses it to harass and insult others, who then blame the victim believing it is her page.

Warrant arrest

On Aug. 15, a Colonial Drive man lost control of his car and drove off the road on Monroe Turnpike, striking a tree. Police said a 12-pack of beer and an empty bottle of Jack Daniels Whiskey were found inside the vehicle.

Officers applied for a warrant to search the driver's medical records at the hospital and found the blood alcohol content showed Justin Kollmann, 21, was under the influence at the time of the accident.

Kollmann turned himself in on a warrant Sunday charging him with operating under the influence. He was released on $500 bond.
