Report of An Erratic Driver Leads to a DUI

A report of an erratic driver on Main Street led to the DUI arrest of a Bethel man at around 7:39 p.m. on Dec. 23.

Todd Thomas, 40, of Meckaur Lane was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, then released on $200 bond for a Jan. 2 court date.

Officers responding to the complaint of an erratic driver on Main Street located a vehicle fitting the description on Bart Road, then observed it crossing over the fog line and traveling along the shoulder for more than 30 feet, according to police.

After stopping the vehicle, police said the driver, Todd Thomas, spoke with a slurred speech and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Field sobriety tests determined he was under the influence, leading to his arrest, police said.
