Monroe Man Dies in Fatal Crash on Route 25 Friday

State Police are still investigating the cause of death. The other driver, a Milford woman, escaped injury

Samuel Polonsky, 86, of Farmview Road in Monroe was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital Friday after he was involved in a two-car crash on the Route 25 Connector at 11:35 that morning.

According to the State Police report, Polanski was heading south in his Ford Escort in the center lane — approximately eight-tenths of a mile from Monroe Turnpike — when he struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee from behind, causing it to swerve left, before careening off the highway and coming to a rest on the grassy median embankment.

Polonsky's car swerved to the right, crossing all three lanes of traffic and crashing into the guardrail. It then swerved all the way back to the left striking the other guardrail and veering into the grassy embankment on that side.

medics were treating the injured, Rauso said.
