State Police Reports: Memorial Day Weekend Stats
Incidents from May 27-30 include four fatalities
State Troopers beefed up patrols on Memorial Day weekend in an effort to keep citizens safe on Connecticut's highways. Sobriety checkpoints targeted drunken drivers and tickets were issued to people for speeding and for not wearing their seat belts.
Lt. Paul Vance reported 260 motor vehicle accidents with 18 injuries and four fatalities on I-95 in Groton and Route 85 in Bolton.
From midnight on May 27 to 5 p.m. on May 30, State Police arrested 70 people for DUI, ticketed 978 people for not wearing their seat belts and 2,013 for speeding.

"Motorists are reminded as summer continues, if they see a suspected drunk
driver call 911 as this is a true emergency," Vance said. "Help the State Police keep the highways and roadways of Connecticut safe."
