SUV Crash Knocks Out Power on Jockey Hollow Road

The driver was not injured, according to a firefighter.

In a familiar sight, power lines were down and a neighborhood left without power, but this time it was due to an SUV careening off the road, taking with it a utility pole and wires, according to a report released by Kevin Catalano, spokesman for the Monroe Volunteer Fire Deparment.

At around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, police, firefighters, and Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Services responded to the single car accident near 152 Jockey Hollow Road. The driver of the heavily damaged SUV was not injured, Catalano said.

Jockey Hollow Road was temporarily closed to traffic between Pepper Street and West Maiden Lane, while crews worked to repair the damage and remove the car.

"CL&P crews arrived on scene very quickly to de-energize the power lines so that emergency responders could gain closer access to the vehicle," Catalano said.
