Teen Dies in Accident Off Route 67

A 15-year-old male was killed when a late night police chase ended in a crash.

A 15-year-old Oxford male died in a car crash at 11:47 Friday night and two other town teens were rushed to Waterbury Hospital when the 19-year-old driver tried to elude Seymour police and lost control of his 2004 Ford Mustang.

According to the police report, the car sped in on Route 67 from the north, turned right onto Old State Road, careened off the roadway, struck an embankment and went airborne striking a commercial building at 43 Old State Road. Police said the Mustang "came to an uncontrolled rest on its roof."

Backseat passenger Brandon Giordano, 15, of 94 Christian Street was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Eric Ramirez, 19, of Wood Road in Oxford suffered serious injuries and front seat passenger, Dion Major (age unavailable) of 170 Hogsback Road in Oxford sustained minor injuries, according to the report.

The teens were transported to the hospital by Oxford Ambulance.

State Police, who responded to the accident along with Oxford Fire, are investigating the incident. The Connecticut State Police Accident Reconstruction Squad was brought in.

 

 

 

Local officials confirm that someone died in a motor vehicle accident on Route 67 near Echo Valley Road about 1 this morning.

Oxford Ambulance Association Director Jerry Schwab confirmed a person was dead on arrival and two others were taken to Waterbury Hospital injuries.

The name of the person who died was not immediately available first thing Saturday morning. However, a report is on file at state police Barracks Troop A in Southbury, and we are on our way there right now. We will update the story as soon as we get the information.
