Theft at a Construction Site. Batteries Not Included

Seven batteries were stolen from construction vehicles at a site on Garder Road.

An Easton man reported the theft of $1,040 worth of batteries from equipment at a construction site on Garder Road Monday.

Police said he arrived at the work site at 12:45 p.m. and noticed that a latch to one of his construction vehicles was undone.

Batteries were cut from the cable wires and stolen from a backhoe ($170), a generator ($170), from two John Deer excavators ($200 each) and an Hitachi excavator ($100), according to the report, and two more batteries were taken from another Hitachi excavator ($100 each).

Cable wires for the batteries were cut in two Caterpillar Loaders, but the batteries were not taken out of either machine, according to police.
