Thief Goes on $1,900 Shopping Spree at Lowe's

Police are investigating the fraudulent use of a Monroe woman's gift card and a vandalism at Town Line Auto Body.

A $1,900 Fraud

A 42-year-old Crown View Drive woman told police Wednesday that someone used up all of her $1,900 Lowe's Home Improvement store gift card.

She received the card in 2007 and, though she did not use it, police said she periodically checked the value with the company. When she attempted to use her card in November of 2012, the store told her the funds were gone, the report said.

Police said she contacted Hallmark, the company Lowe's uses for its gift cards, and was told two transactions were made in September and two in August totaling $1,900 exactly. The company told her she should file a police report, police said.

The theft is under investigation.

BB Shootings

The owner of Town Line Auto Body told police Wednesday that someone shot BBs through windows of his business at 781 Main Street.

Police said three windows were broken — two small window panes and one thermal pane — for a total of $280 worth of damage. The owner had noticed the vandalism approximately one week ago, but was not concerned until a family member told him he should call police, according to the report.
