Traffic Advisory: Green Ribbon Ride's Coming Through Sunday

Police issued a Code Red notification about a Sandy Hook fundraiser in which 3,000 motorcycles will roll through town.

Good afternoon, today is Friday, May 3. This is a Code Red Advisory Message from the Monroe Police Department.

On Sunday, May 5, 2013, the "Sandy Hook Green Ribbon Motorcycle Ride" will pass through Monroe on RT 34 and on RT 25. The ride starts in Shelton at 11 a.m., and there are in excess of 3,000 motorcycles anticipated.

Route 34, from Route 111 to the Oxford side of the dam, will be closed for the duration of the motorcade, as well as all southbound traffic on Route 25. The motorcade should last approximately one hour.

The Monroe Police Department requests that all motorists use alternate routes during this motorcade, for the safety of the riders. Please plan ahead so that your travel will take you on different roads. Cutting through the motorcade will not be allowed.

If you intend on viewing the motorcade as it passes by, please park safely off of the road, so as not to cause any hazards to yourself or others.
