Waterbury Man Accused of Stealing $12,000 Worth of Jewelry

A Patmar Drive woman told police she believed a man who had been living there as a renter stole her necklaces and rings.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

A Waterbury man was arrested on a warrant Saturday charging him in the theft of around $12,000 worth of jewelry from a Patmar Drive resident. Monroe police officers picked him up at Troop G after State Troopers arrested him during a traffic stop in Westbrook, according to the report.

Mark Galezowski, 28, of Piedmont Street was charged with second-degree larceny and released on $5,000 bond for a May 7 court date.

On Oct. 25, 2012, a Patmar Drive woman told police someone stole thousands of dollars worth of necklaces and rings and that she suspected Galezowski, who had been living there as a renter, police said.

Police said the victim had confronted Galezowski before and that he had admitted to taking jewelry and police gave pieces back, but she did not get all of them.

The ensuing police investigation led police to apply for a warrant for Galezowski's arrest.
