Cistern Installation On Craig Drive to Close a Portion of the Street

A Public Works crew will be installing a 15,000-gallon cistern on Craig Drive allowing firefighters to have access to water to supply hoses in the event of a fire in the neighborhood. The equipment for the job is expected to be delivered this Thursday and drivers can expect a road closure and delays for a couple of weeks, according to Interim Public Works Dir. Chris Nowacki.

"During this time period we will be closing off a short section of Craig Drive, which will remain closed for the duration of the project," Nowacki said in a letter to residents. "During this time we will be redirecting traffic throughout this area."

The road will be closed between house numbers 28 and 34.

Nowacki said he met with the Board of Education about bus routes and with police, firefighters and EMS to ensure all emergency services will not be adversely affected by the project.

Work will be performed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting.

Nowacki released the work schedule:

Thursday, Nov. 7, equipment delivery.

Friday, Nov. 8, saw cut pavement

Nov. 11 to 15, excavate and prepare area for cistern installation.

Nov. 18 to 22, install cistern, backfill, pave excavated area
