First Selectman Steve Vavrek has said 18-wheeler trucks in the industrial area of Pepper Street are traveling along scenic Garder Road, because Timothy Hill Road is in poor condition. Town Council members unanimously approved a $110,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant to reclaim and pave Timothy Hill at their Monday night meeting.
"Timothy Hill would be the perfect cut through," Vavrek said at a previous meeting. "It will put people to work."
Enterprise Drive, a road in the industrial park, will be extended into Timothy Hill Road, which will become part of Enterprise.
Garder Road is not built to handle the weight of the trucks that are currently going over it, according to Vavrek.
