State Rep. DebraLee Hovey (R-112) joined local officials at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Monroe Police Radio Tower.
The tower is being constructed near the department's entrance before an addition project can get underway. Hovey was instrumental in securing a $500,000 grant for project. A crew began work last Tuesday.
Those attending the meeting included Gary Scrofani (Police Commission member), Raymond Giovanni (building committee member), Police Capt. Michael Flick, Police Chief John Salvatore, David York (building committee member), First Selectman Steve Vavrek, J.P. Sredzinski (who is chairman of the building committee) and Jeffrey Guttman (Republican Town Committee chairman).
