Registrars' Canvas Removes 1,400 Voters from the Rolls

Following state statutes, the Monroe registrars of voters have conducted  a random canvass of registered voters to determine their eligibility. Those voters who received a canvass letter, but did not return their form indicating their continued residence in Monroe have been made inactive. The number of registered voters removed or made inactive was over 1,400. 

Residents of Monroe can verify their active status as voters by going to www.monroect.org/votersearch.aspx  and filling in their name and birthday or address.

After the search, if the message states "name cannot be found" the voter is no longer on the active list, and if they wish to continue to vote, they must re-registrar by going to  www.monroect.org/registrarofvoters.aspx  fill out the voter registration form, print it out, sign and date it, and mail it to the following:  Registrars of Voters, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Ct 06468.  A copy of the list of inactive voters is also posted on the registrars' bulletin board in Town Hall.  Residents can stop by and check their status there as well.  The Town Clerk has voter registration forms if the registrars are not available.

The registrars would like to thank all those citizens who responded to the canvass helping to keep the voter registration rolls accurate.
