The Monroe Volunteer Initiative Begins in January

First Selectman Steve Vavrek is pushing the Monroe Volunteer Initiative. The following is a message he sent out via email:

The Town of Monroe is extremely fortunate to have an incredible number of residents who are willing to volunteer and make our community a great place to live work and play. I truly believe Volunteerism is one of the core attributes of a successful and vibrant community.

Volunteering to serve on a local board or commission, joining a community group or a political party is an opportunity for our residents to become involved and help shape the future of Monroe.

The “Monroe Volunteer Initiative” will start in January 2014. Residents interested in being appointed to any openings on a Monroe board or commission, getting involved in one of many community groups or learning more in regard to a political party will apply online through the Office of the First Selectman and receive information on how to get involved.

The “Monroe Volunteer Initiative” is an effort to recruit, organize, promote and honor the many residents who want to volunteer for the benefit of Monroe. This new online tool will be available starting on January 6th and can found on the Town web site, www.monroect.org for residents to submit their contact information and indicate their preferences of volunteer opportunities. This new system will enable the town to more effectively recruit or volunteers in the most efficient ways possible.
