Third Time's a Charm: Monroe Passes 2014-15 Budget

Third budget vote passes by wide margin.

After the 2014-15 budget proposal fell by narrow margins in the first two referendums, the 2.4 percent spending increase proposed Tuesday passed by 329 votes.

The final tally Tuesday night showed the budget sailed through by a vote of 1,845-1,516.

Once officially set by the Board of Finance, the approved budget will raise the mill rate from 30.41 to 31.01 for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1.
