Monroe Public Schools Announces Finalist for Superintendent of Schools

James Agostine, who is currently superintendent in Region 16, will visit Monroe on Thursday.

The Superintendent Search Committee has announced that James Agostine is the finalist to succeed Dr. Colleen Palmer as Monroe's superintendent of Schools. Agostine is currently superintendent in Region 16.

He has been named as the finalist after months of an intensive search and interview process, according to a press release issued by the search committee this afternoon.

In Agostine's career he has been a middle school teacher, assistant principal, principal, has served as superintendent for Prospect/Beacon Falls for the last four years, and as a Board of Education member in Region 14.

"During Mr. Agostine's tenure with Region 16 he has been recognized for making tremendous strides in educational leadership, organizational management, community and Board of Education relations," the press release says.

Agostine will be in Monroe on Thursday afternoon to be introduced to school staff, administration and town officials. He will also be attending the Parent's Council meeting next Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. in Central Office.
