GOP Incumbents Re-Elected to Lead the School Board

Monroe Board of Education members chose the same three officers to lead the newly elected board Monday night. The votes were along party-lines with Republicans Darrell Trump winning the chairmanship, Donna Lane elected as vice chairman and Mark Hughes as secretary.

Republicans hold a 6-3 majority over Democrats on the school board and all votes were 6 to 3.

Alan Vaglivelo nominated fellow Democrat Lee Crouch for all three positions, but the nominations went down one-by-one.

After the voting, Crouch said, "I'm personally disappointed that after 10 years being the most tenured board member, I wasn't given the opportunity to be in a leadership position. It's about kids, not politics."

Sadly, Mr.Crouch, of course it is about politics, as usual.

Interesting how the Republicans want to "work together" but so far on the Town Council and Board of Education when Democrats were nominated for leadership positions, they fell along party lines. And the First Selectman has said nothing about advocating for bipartisan leadership. And he says he's not "a politician." I don't know how the two parties are supposed to work together if members of the minority on the elected boards are constantly in the dark on the most important issues. Having a Democrat in leadership would have avoided this unfortunate recurring scenario - but no, once again, the Republicans choose politics above government, politics above Monroe.

Mr.Kapoor, stop dreaming about bipartisanship. It ain't going to ever happen.

Funny how Nick says he doesn't bash the Republicans. Another post, another bash, another waste of time. You aren't left in the dark because you are a Democrat, you are left in the dark because you aren't constructive. And while I've never met a bipartisan Republican, I've never met a bipartisan Democrat either, so grow up and please, please, please, stop wasting everyone's time with your nonsense.
