The Monroe Public Schools visual arts department is proud to announce that the following students’ artworks were selected to participate in the 2013 Scholastic Art Competition:
Katherine Chipdey, Grade 12 (Photography); Nicole Fahey, Grade 12 (Ceramics); Samantha Faria-Robertson, Grade 12 (Sculpture); Nicole Fischetti, Grade 12 (Photography); Emily Gutelius, Grade 12 (Drawing); Michelle Janco, Grade 9 (Drawing); Mayonashia Jones, Grade 11 (Drawing); Julia Liburdi, Grade 12 (Painting); Maya Pirulli, Grade 10 (Drawing); Emily Swift, Grade 11 (Photography); Cassie Gerace, Grade 7 (Drawing); and Samantha Wall, Grade 12 (Painting). Samantha was also awarded an Honorable Mention for her painting, titled, Inka and a Parrot.
The selected artworks will be on display at the Youth Art Month Reception, March 6th at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library.
Scholastic Art Awards of Connecticut is an affiliate of The Alliance For Young Artists & Writers. The program recognizes the work of talented young artists in Grades 7 to 12. It is the largest and most senior program of its type in the country. . The Connecticut Regional Awards Celebration was held on January 27, 2013 at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford.
The 2013 Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards exhibition featured select work from over 130 participating schools. Six hundred student artworks were selected for final exhibition at the University of Hartford Art School from over 2,000 entries.
