Cutlers Farm Road Closed - Where is the press?

We have three media services (Patch, Allaboutmonroe.com, Monroe Courier) that I expect to be covering our town.  However, when a major road is closed due to a “road collapse” not a single one has written an article to explain what happened, how it will be fixed, and why it will take so long until it reopens.  Here are just some of the questions that I think the people of Monroe should have answers to.

This section of road had some road warning signs out for a number of weeks.  Why was that?  Was there work being done before the collapse?  Was there a concern with that road section? Was there any indication of a potential or possible failure of the road?  Was this collapse a complete surprise?  When was the last time any work or repaving was done on this section of the road?

What has actually happened and why? What failed? How big a section of road is involved? Does the collapse span both lanes?

What needs to be done to fix the road?  Does this require a full engineering design?  Does this require outside companies to do either design or construction?

Why is this going to take two weeks?  What is the actual timeline – design, material acquisition, construction?  How long before actual repair work can start? Once the repair work begins, will it be every day, including weekends? What about working two shifts or even 24 hours a day?  What steps is the town taking to minimize the length of time the road is closed?

Is there any way that one lane can be opened in this section, even if only during limited times of the day (such as when no work is being done on the section)?

Maybe the First Selectman would be willing to write something that addresses these questions, but if not, we should be able to rely on our local media to fully cover this story.
