18th Annual Character Dinner Series at Great Hollow Lake

Join us Wednesday evenings at Great Hollow Lake to meet your favorite costumed characters and enjoy dinner at the Lake's concession area.  2013 will feature guest performers to add to the festivities.  Great family fun for all ages from 5:00-7:30 pm.  Moonbounce will be available for only $1.  Inclement weather will postpone the program to the following night. Call the information line at 203-339-6106 after 3pm for cancellations.  Special guests and activities may not always be available on alternate nights.  Vehicle park sticker or vehicle entry fee ($5 per car/resident or $10 per car/non-resident) required for lake admission. 

July 10 – Mickey Mouse with Special Guest T-Bone from 6:00-7:00.  T-Bone is affectionately known to his audiences as “America’s musical Pied Piper”. He has performed for thousands of people throughout the United States since 1972. This is “full contact” entertainment at its best and a show you won’t soon forget!  Fantasy Faces by Ruth will be at the Lake from 5:45-7:15.  Ruth uses only FDA approved professional theatrical grade products to "change" the face of a child or adult into a tiger, butterfly, super hero or other imaginative work of art. With only a sponge and a few brush strokes she performs this transformation in only 3-5 minutes.

July 17 – Elmo and Special Guest Kahana Hula from 5:45-6:45. The main goal of Kahana Hula Polynesian Cultural Arts is to perpetuate the Hawaiian & Polynesian culture for future generations as well as to share the Aloha Spirit (traits of character that express the charm, warmth and sincerity of Hawaii's people) with audiences across New England.  Audiences of all ages will enjoy the interactive program of music, stories, song and dance.  Canvas Painting by Studio on the Move will be offered from 5:30-7:15.  All instructed art experiences is geared for all ages.  The children will learn the techniques of color blending on "real canvas boards."  Several different brush stroke techniques will be instructed.  Each child will be allowed to paint one canvas each. Smocks will be provided. 12 children at a time in 20 minute intervals (ages 3-16).

July 24 – Scooby Doo and Special Guest Tracy Walton from 5:45-7:15. This program covers the evolution of 20th century songwriting in America. Featuring the great storytellers of our time, Tracy will explain the process of songwriting and the development of the different genres and forms that make American music unique. Through audience participation the group will compose an original song by the end of the presentation.  Fantasy Faces by Ruth will be available from 5:45-7:15.

July 31 – Barney and The Rock 'N Rope Warrior from 5:30-6:15. Guinness World Record Holder, David Fisher, AKA The Rope Warrior, has jumped his way into the hearts of millions of fans throughout the world. He has made over 100 national television appearances, and has performed for Boris Yeltsin in Russia and for Presidents Clinton and Bush. Since 1993, David has performed live for over five million school children.  Collage Design by Studio on the Move will also be at the Lake from 5:30-7:15. All instructed art experiences is geared for all ages. The children will learn the techniques of pattern design using several different medias. Your child's individual creativity will be explored in this experience. Each child will be allowed to create one collage each. Smocks will be provided. 12 children at a time in 20 minute intervals (ages 3-16).

August 7 – Clifford and Bob Bloom will present an Interactive Drumming and Percussion show from 5:45-6:30. At this interactive “DRUMMING ABOUT YOU” program, entire groups get hands-on with an inviting array of drums and world percussion instruments. Bob Bloom leads everyone to play along with joy-filled rock & roll, boogie, funk, folk, and swing songs that have catchy beats and engaging melodies. Fantasy Faces by Ruth will also be at this event from 5:45-7:15.
