'What Can be More Rewarding Than Helping People?'

Kimberly Cassia was honored with the 2013 Robert Wesche Award, recognizing her contributions to Monroe's senior citizens.

Kimberly Cassia, the Elderly Service Coordinator at the Monroe Senior Center, recently won the 2013 Robert Wesche Award, an annual Monroe TRIAD award given to those in the community who best exemplify the goal of providing safety and security to the seniors of Monroe.

In addition to her job at the senior center, Cassia volunteers for the Monroe Fire Department and as an EMT for Monroe EMS. According to a press release from Monroe TRIAD, Cassia also works with the Monroe Police Department when it needs assistance with a senior citizen in the community.

"I'm very excited," Cassia said Tuesday. "I was totally oblivious to what was happening and key words started popping out at me, until I realized they were talking about me! Never been one short on words — all I could muster up was 'thank you!'"

"I love my job," she added. "What can be more rewarding then helping people? Between the town job as the Elderly Service Coordinator, volunteering for Monroe EMS and Monroe Fire, it always seems like there is someone who can use assistance or guidance. I am just glad I have the knowledge and information to help people out when I can! I am honored to be able to serve the residents of Monroe!"
