Supper With Santa, Tree Lightings & More

Tuesday

Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, will host sessions of decorating holiday ornament cupcakes and making Shrinky Dinks to jazz up Christmas trees or windows for 6th-8th graders this Tuesday at 4 p.m.

It's limited to 16 kids. Registration is required. Register online at www.ewml.org or by calling the library at 203-452-2850 x6.

Wednesday

A Menorah Lighting will be held on the Town Green in front of Monroe Town Hall at 6 p.m.

Thursday

Shop Local: Girls' Night Out at the Collaborative Womens Center, 500 Monroe Turnpike, 2nd floor, Thursday at 6 p.m. Several small gifts will be for sale, as well as some fun activities and pampering.

The Hook Up: Local Brews~Premium Perks~Fine Artisans is this Thursday from 6-10 p.m. at Marisa's Ristorante, 6540 Main Street, Trumbull. Follow this link for details.

Friday

Supper With Santa, this Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Monroe Fire-Rescue, Station #1, 18 Shelton Road. Tickets bought in advance cost $7 for adults and $3 per child (children under 3 are admitted free. And at the door $8 for adults and $4 per child age three and older.

The annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the firehouse this Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.

Firefighters will also be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the Monroe Food Pantry that evening.

Saturday

A Christmas Boutique will be held at Harmony Grange # 92 on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will feature venders selling holiday items and jewelry, a bake sale, a raffle, a game table, a Chinese auction, hot dogs, snacks and drinks.

The Monroe Historical Society’s annual Christmas Fair will be held at the One Room Schoolhouse, 311 Wheeler Road, Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, from noon to 5 p.m.

St. Jude Parish Christmas Fair will be held at 707 Monroe Turnpike, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A Christmas Tree Lighting hosted by the Monroe Women's Club Saturday with the help of several Monroe Girl Scout troops at the Town Hall Gazebo, in front of Monroe Town Hall, at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature refreshments, music, caroling and a visit from Santa Claus.

The Stepney Tree Lighting will be held on Stepney Green at the corner of Pepper and Green streets Saturday at 7 p.m. This annual event always includes Christmas caroling and a visit from Santa.

Sunday

The Friends of the Library present Donald Alfano in concert at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, Sunday at 2 p.m. Alfano will perform selections of J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, Franz Liszt, and Isaac Albeniz. Light refreshments will be served.
