The building project cost a total of $94,000, according to the Monroe Historical Society. The town's seven one- and two-room schoolhouses were auctioned off to raise funds for class materials for the new school.</p> <p>It was since renamed Monroe Elementary School. Debra Kovachi is the principal of what is now a grade K-4 school.</p>
